My institution brought a new supercomputer online this month (see: Hemsoth, Nicole. 2013. “University of Florida Opens HiPerGator Jaws.” HPC Wire, May 7.). As the article states, “supercomputing resources can be game-changers in fields that we don’t traditionally associate with super systems.”
Several of my library colleagues participated in making a set of short videos for the research computing center that emphasize the value of computing resources to the social sciences and humanities. I believe dLOC is an apt model for African digital archive projects, as it has been proven to work so well for international collaboration in the Caribbean:
- Laurie Taylor: Research Computing for the Humanities
- Leah Rosenberg on the Digital Library of the Caribbean ( dLOC)
- Sophia Krzys Acord : Humanities and the Public Sphere on UF Research Computing
Enjoy! More HPC videos here.
