Africa Writes

Africa Writes – the UK’s largest celebration of contemporary African and Diaspora literature – returns this summer, from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th July at the British Library.

Organised by the Royal African Society in partnership with The British Library, Africa Writes 2013 will feature an exciting series of book launches, readings, panel discussions, poetry, performances, children & youth workshops and other literary activities. Now in its second year, Africa Writes will bring together established and emerging literary figures from across the continent and the Diaspora to the world’s second largest library for a long weekend of critical debate and discussion on contemporary African Writing. The festival will also stage a public book fair for UK publishers of fiction and non-fiction books on Africa and by Africans.

Our major festival highlight will be “Two Writers, Two Generations: Ngugi wa Thiong’s & Mukoma wa Ngugi” (links to event reservation).
